Welcome to Abenaqui Alpacas. Nestled
cozily in the heart of the Algonquin Nation, Abenaqui Alpacas is the
culmination of our dreams, our goals, and years of dedicated,
meaningful, hard work. We enjoy working with our
hands and our minds in the outdoors, we enjoy the rewards we reap while
working in harmony with the natural world, and we found that alpacas
fit right in with our philosophies.
We decided along the way that we wanted to have more control of our
future, and to be involved in meaningful, rewarding work. Our ties to
nature, and the time we've invested in ourselves led us to alpacas.
Karrie's strong genealogical ties to the Abenaqui led us to choosing
our farm name. (We chose the birthplace of Karrie's Abenaqui
grandmother for the name of the first female cria born on our farm,
Odanak.)
Abenaqui alpacas began as a dream for us. Scientists by trade, we
hunted for the right investment in our future with analytical minds.
After several years of research, farm visits, and alpaca events, we
decided to invest in alpacas.
Our farm is located in Sanford Maine on a former perennial farm.
What were once flower beds are now green pastures. The wooded lot
slowly turned to pasture, and the trees we harvested from our land were
milled into a barn.
